I created Electronicons originally as a weekly electronic music showcase on Ithaca College’s 106 VIC during my freshman year.
The show aired from 2002 to 2006, starting as a simple 2 hour display of what was popular on “the scene” and then later maturing into an improvised mess of digitally mixed mash-ups, beatdowns and general fuck-uppery.
Naturally, the much shorter and downloadable podcast format fits the original intentions of the show: no rules, no talksets, no central New York weather. I wanted to let the music speak for itself, playing music no one was hearing on US radio. I wanted to show what electronic music is, where it came from and hopefully, where it is going.
Having artists perform or create exclusive mixes for the show was also an original intention that never came about while Electronicons aired on VIC and i’m glad several artists have agreed to go along with me on this.
Hopefully this won’t be a complete disaster, if anything i hope to put some smiles on some faces and get some favorite artists of mine to find new fans/sell more albums/play more shows, etc.
Then we’ll all be happy.
Enjoy listening and please support the artists in this podcast!
